7 Easy Halloween Costumes Inspired by 2016 Pop Culture

We’re only a week away from Halloween, and if you still don’t know what to wear this year, we’ve got you covered. With several ideas out in the open, we’re here to help you find a costume that’s inspired by the best of 2016 pop culture— from this year’s hit movies and series to iconic music videos. Because let’s admit it, it’s always thrilling to be someone else for a night and not receive any judgments for it (no matter how wild and strange your costume may be). These pop culture moments widely took everyone’s attention this year, and what better way to attend a Halloween party than to stand out in these popular looks.
Scroll down to check out our list of easy Halloween costumes you can totally wear:
 Snapchat Filters

From unicorn filters to deer filters with cute voice alterations today, we can’t resist not filling up our Snapchat stories with these adorable filters. Spend less time worrying about what your outfit would be and let your face do all the talking with this cute makeup idea. Check out some more Snapchat filter ideas and tutorials here.
Miley Cyrus on The Voice

While many have sported a wild Miley costume last year, here’s a new take on how you can embody her this Halloween. Make a bold statement with a floral denim ensemble just like what she wore during her first season on The Voice. With pieces that most likely already reside in your closet—denim jacket, denim pants and a corset—all you need is to pin flowers to your outfit. Don’t forget braided pigtails to finish off the look!
Ariana Grande In Her ‘Dangerous Woman (A Cappella)’ Music Video

As soon as this a cappella version of Ariana Grande’s ‘Dangerous Woman’ debuted seven months ago, it garnered millions of views on Youtube and we don’t need to wonder why it did. The authenticity in her voice and style are some of the reasons why Ari is at the top of her game. And as per usual, she makes it to the list of Halloween costumes because who wouldn’t want to sport an Ari look on Halloween? All you need are gloves, a black peplum tube, black leggings, sparkly choker, and a DIY bunny mask.
The Kardashians at the Yeezy Launch
kardashians-at-yeezy
There’s always a reason for us to talk about this family on the Internet. Remember when the Kardashians arrived at Kanye West’s Yeezy launch in coordinated pieces? Perfect for your squad, come to a Halloween party dressed in neutral pieces, faux fur, and sparkle. It will totally be a #SquadGoals moment.
Eleven from Stranger Things
          Stranger Things
Stranger Things had been a hit since it aired just a few months ago on Netflix, and what better way to dress up for Halloween than to wear your favorite character from the show? Don’t be surprised to bump into another Eleven or two but that still doesn’t take the fun out off wearing one of the most badass characters on TV this year. Just throw on a blue bomber jacket, a peter pan collared peach dress, knee-high socks, and sneakers to cop her look. (Shaved head optional.)
Katana from Suicide Squad

Forget about Harley Quinn because the villain already ruled Halloween last year. (Nadine Lustre even dressed up as her.) So even though it’s still a popular choice for girls this year, Katana from Suicide Squad is just as feisty. And it’s a lot easier to wear too. Just look for a white crop top, black bomber jacket, leather pants, and combat boots. Then wrap a red cloth around your waist as a belt, a Japanese flag on your sleeve, and paint the mask on your face to make it easier for you just like this.
Beyonce In Her ‘Hold Up’ Music Video
beyonce-in-lemonade
BeyoncĂ© dropped her latest album “Lemonade” a few months ago, and what people have been raving about was not just her trending hits, but her mustard Roberto Cavalli dress. If you plan to go as the Queen Bey, grab yourself a mustard long dress, black floral heels, and a bat. You’ll instantly replicate Beyonce’s look on her stylish “Hold Up” music video.

How to Finally Wear Your Night-Out Clothes to Work

Our party clothes tend to live in the back of our closets and left unused during weekdays. Once Monday hits, we’re back to our  usual proper workwear. But here’s the good news: we’ve gathered ways on how you can pull off wearing your night-out pieces—a.k.a crop tops, sequined skirts, and party dresses—to work and still look professional. Once you discover these styling tricks, your party outfits can finally be considered as ‘work appropriate’. With pieces that are already in your closet like button-down blouses, combining these with your weeknight get-ups will totally give your daily work wardrobe the spice it needs.
Here’s how you can finally make the most use out of your party clothes:
Layering is key. Simply wear your crop tops over your button-down shirts.

You can also try layering a turtleneck with a low-neck top for instant sophistication.

If you have plans on a weeknight, grab a blazer or jacket to wear with your favorite slip dress. This will easily take you from desk to after-work drinks.

If your office is more lenient with work attire, dress down your skirt with a slouchy sweater for the right balance of glam and casual.

CUTE & CREEPY DIY GOOGLY EYES CLUTCH FOR HALLOWEEN

googly-eyeball-clutch_red-dress
This is a ridiculously easy DIY and the perfect Halloween accessory for a fun and creepy little touch. Though I was inspired by all things Halloween, it’s actually cute and quirky enough to use year-round.
I only had little googly eyes to work with when the idea popped into my head, so I didn’t run out for more, but any size eyes would be adorable. The main concern though, is keeping them on. While you can use a hot glue gun, this E6000 adhesive holds forever, so I strongly suggest using it if you want your eyes to stay put.

Here’s What You Need…

diy-googly-eyeball-clutch-for-halloween_1
* Small purse or clutch, any material will work {mine is Nicole Miller from a few years ago}
Googly eyes, size of your choice
* Flat back crystals in black, {optional}
E6000 Adhesive + q-tips
* Check out Anya Hindmarch and Sophie Hulme clutches, bags and accessories for inspo creating two large googly eyes instead… scroll to the bottom to shop.

Steps…

In a ventilated area, squeeze about a quarter-sized amount of glue onto a thick, disposable surface.
Grab a q-tip, dip it in your glue, then pick up your googly eyes one at a time and apply them to your clutch.
You can space them out evenly but randomly, as I did, or cover your entire purse with them. It’s up to you!

On one side, I added black gems for an extra little shimmer… I left the other side with eyeballs only.

TIP: Gems with pre-adhesive will not stay on for the longterm, or maybe even for five minutes.. Even though my black stones were sticky-sided, I glued them on anyway.

And… Voila!

The Biggest Street Style Trends We Saw During Fashion Month

Aside from keeping our eyes glued on the runways during fashion week, another way to scout trends is by looking at the street style of show goers that include celebrities, editors, models, bloggers, and every fashionphile in between. From the fresh way to wear your button-down shirt to the bedroom look that simply won’t go away, check out the 6 trends we loved from the streets of New York, London, Milan, and Paris, and try them out yourself!

Cold Shoulder

The styling trick that was such a huge hit throughout fashion month was wearing blouses asymmetrically to show off one shoulder. This lends you a sexier look and gives your go-to button-down a much elevated update.

Athletic Pants

Another favorite among the fashion crowd is the striped trousers which gives off an athletic vibe. With a wide-leg cut, this piece can polish up a sporty outfit or give a twist to any of your wardrobe staples.

Pajama dressing has been around for a while now, and it’s certainly not going anywhere anytime soon. Fans of this trend are opting for bold prints with statement footwear that surely makes this bedroom look work on the streets.

Army Green

Monochromatic outfits were trending on the streets, and the people’s choice of color goes to army green. Try this if you’re into military chic, and you can never go wrong.

Daytime Shine

If there’s one thing that street style stars have taught us, it’s that there are absolutely no rules in fashion.  So by all means, bring out your metallics even if the sun is high and pair them with your favorite denim or opt for some lightweight fabric for a daytime-appropriate getup.

Mixed Stripes

Mixing stripes is this season’s It-way of doing print-on-print. Whether your pieces are in vertical or horizontal stripes or in different colors, pair them up like it’s nobody’s business!

Dress Over Shirt

We’ve seen various layered outfit that involve dresses, but this season’s break-out look is the dress over a button-down combo. Go for a pastel palette or a see-through frock with a printed shirt for a fresh take on this trend.
